Bed Hardware
If you're gonna build a bed, you're gonna need hardware. To that end, here is a collection of bed hardware including recessed and surface mount bed rail fasteners, safety rail fittings, bed bolts, bolt covers, Murphy bed hardware kits, and hidden cam bolts.
No-Mortise
Bed Rail Fittings - Made of heavy gauge steel with a rustproof,
chromate plating, they measure 3" tall by 1-1/2" wide. “L” bracket mounts
to the post of the bed and the plate mounts to the bed rail. Faster and
easier to install than the mortised variety.
Mortised
Bed Rail Fastener - A traditional way to attach bed rails to bedposts
when you don't want to see the hardware. Installation requires mortising.
Made of heavy gauge, 5/8" wide steel. Fasteners are 5" long, sold in sets
of 4.
Pin-and-hook
fastener - Use two plates on each end to make a sturdy bed frame. Just
create slots in the head- and foot-boards to receive the hooks. Hooks are
made for pins which are 2'' on center. Use for replacement only, not new
construction.
Locking
Safety Bed Rail Brackets - The interlocking safety latch prevents bed
rails from becoming disengaged, while the 1/8'' thick steel construction
adds strength.
To assemble, simply slide the two brackets together and insert the safety
tab. These locking brackets are ideal for bunk beds and
standard beds alike.
Recessed
Cam Bolt - Quick connect bed rail fastener with
wooden dowels to faciliate alignment. Use on 1'' or thicker stock. Each
set includes two steel cams, two steel bolts, two steel threaded inserts
and four 1/2'' x 2'' wooden dowels. Bolt is not visible on outside of bed
post so no bolt cover required.
Bed
Bolt Cover and Bolt - Square head, 3/8" x 6" long rigid steel bolts
Sheraton style bolt cover with an antique brass finish. An alternative to
hook-type bed rails, bed bolts offer extraordinary structural support
while the bolt cover affords an air of distinction.
Murphy
Bed Hardware Kit - This fold down bed mechanism uses a sophisticated
piston lift system rather than old-fashioned springs that can snap back.
The bed is held securely closed, and opens with minimal effort. Includes
instructions for basic cabinet construction and instructional DVD.
Hardware available in Twin, Full or Queen Sizes.
